Purpose
Over the past 10 years I have been given the privilege of running and working with numerous
youth programs helping students from underprivileged communities prepare for college,
realize there is a place for them in the white collar world, and ultimately gain the confidence
to realize with hard work they can do anything. Mentorship is pivotal to success.
The areas surrounding District 28 frequently suffer from greater levels of unemployment,
high crime rates, and gang activity. Mentoring, at its core, guarantees young people that there
is someone who cares about them, assures them they are not alone in dealing with day-to-day
challenges, and makes them feel like they matter. Research confirms that quality mentoring
relationships have powerful positive effects on young people in a variety of personal, academic,
and professional situations. Ultimately, mentoring connects a young person to personal growth
and development, and social and economic opportunity. Yet one in three young people will grow
up without this critical asset.

Welcome
District 28 Assemblyman Edgar R. Flores
Our E.A.S.T Mentoriship Program presents opportunities for enrichment,
exposure, support and guidance through supervised one-to-one relationships
between high school students and caring adults.
The goal of the E.A.S.T Mentoriship Program is to empower mentees to
develop into contributing members of our community, who will find ways
give back when they are in a position to do so.
Thank you for your interest in E.A.S.T. Mentorship! All
mentors will be expected to complete a short training and
screening before starting to mentor.
Students attending a school in District 28 are encouraged
to apply. We will provide information to ensure the mentees
get the most out of this expereince.
